USC Geriatrics Healthcare Collective Program (GHC)
The USC Geriatric Healthcare Collective is a program that aims to improve healthcare outcomes for underserved older adults in Los Angeles. Our program addresses three community needs, improving access to quality interprofessional geriatric primary care, recognizing and treating cognitive impairment in older adults, and providing education and skill training for clinical providers and healthcare students. The program is based in three clinical locations, including two FQHC’s and several affordable housing sites and provides education and training to healthcare professionals, caregivers, direct care workers, and facility staff. The GHC program is a collaborative effort between several divisions and schools at USC, and focuses on interprofessional training and team-based care.
“Improving access and delivery of health care for older adults in Los Angeles has been our goal since 2015. I am so proud of the GWEP projects that have educated, trained, and inspired healthcare students, providers, staff, and administrators to address the unique needs of the patients they serve. This lens has fostered innovative programs that support wellness, inclusion, and social justice. Aging is not something to be avoided, but to be celebrated! ”
